I’m Rae Lynn. My professional and personal passions for 30 plus years have been that of an occupational therapist and yoga teacher, blending together the eastern and western wellness worlds.
A Bit of Backstory...
My occupational therapy career began in Florida in 1993, at an in-patient rehabilitation hospital working with adults experiencing neurological, cardiac, and orthopedic conditions and then into pediatrics. Always an anatomy and research geek, I also taught evening Kinesiology classes at Palm Beach Community College.
In desperate need of effective tools to balance the stressors of my full-time career, plus becoming a new mom, I did a deep dive into yoga and meditation, and like any good wife, I effectively nagged my husband, Jeff, onto this new journey with me.
Our experiences of increased mental and physical well-being from practicing yoga, combined with our spirit of adventure, led to a cross-country road trip to San Fran, with our 3-year-old son, for multiple yoga teacher trainings, followed by a move to York, Maine, and the opening of Yoga On York in 2002.

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.”
~ Helen Keller ~
Yoga On York was the perfect venue to integrate my rehabilitation experience with the holistic modalities of yoga, providing a variety of classes for ALL levels, plus teaching 200hr & 500hr Yoga Alliance teacher trainings and private OT sessions.
After a wonderful 13 years running Yoga On York, we passed the torch of studio ownership in 2015, and I returned to traditional, clinical OT………… until the pandemic……….
………. in August 2020, with a worldwide pandemic in full swing, we took a massive leap of faith! We sold everything, bought a boat, and sailed the (often) high seas for seven months learning en route! Whew!
Then we sold the boat and world-traveled for a year… all while homeschooling our teenage daughter…..
“Rowing north, navigating life’s currents and flourishing as we age” ~Mary Pipher ~
Back from our travels, I find myself now in my mid-fifties, post-menopause, and living in a
VERY different body, mind, spirit, and stage-of-life purpose.
A constantly curious person...if I am experiencing it, I am diving into the research!
My peri-postmenopause transition was no different!
I have read sooooo many research articles and taken soooo many courses on all things related to menopause and how to promote our HEALTHSPAN including courses on:
nutrition, strength training, osteoporosis,
heart health, brain health,
sleep and on…..
LITERALLY EVERYTHING related to what peri/post-menopausal woman
(and those who love us), can be doing to skillfully navigate rowing north!
I’ve always lived the motto, “when you get, give, and when you learn, teach” .
Enter rowingnorthWELLNESS (circa 2023), my newest professional passion
focused on
ROWING, not drifting, NORTH!
We do not need to become weak and frail! We can grab our oars,
empowered by science-based knowledge and steer towards
STRONG, FLEXIBLE, HEALTHY, VITAL, JOYFUL
Join me!
Let’s row (not drift) north together!
"Receiving Rae Lynn’s classes feels like one of the most important things I could do for my body. She knows the body and wants to help you help yours. She wants to be witness to your physical achievements and believes in you, no matter your age, limitations, etc. her philosophy of “rowing north” as we age is exemplified in her commitment to offering not only intelligent exercise and instruction, but in genuinely caring about the longevity and quality of people’s lives."
-Amy Hopkins, RN, LMT, E-RYT
"I took Rae Lynn's Yoga Teacher Training program several years ago and give large credit to her for my success as a Boston-based yoga instructor. The course that she developed was extraordinarily comprehensive and reflected Rae's extreme depth of expertise in anatomy and body work, as well as her enthusiasm for the psychological and spiritual benefits of the practice of yoga. Rae Lynn taught us with a total sense of commitment and professionalism, encouraging us with warmth and passion to share what she so thoughtfully brought to us as our instructor."
-Teri Martin, Yoga Teacher
"This 200hr training was life-changing! I found a prescription for a new way of living, one that's more thoughtful, present and compassionate. Rae Lynn has a deep well of scientific and yogic knowledge and a rare talent for sharing it in a way that is accessible for people with different needs and abilities. She approaches teaching yoga with creativity, humor, and a true dedication to student safety and wellbeing - a model I hope to emulate in the next stage of my yoga "career"."
--Dolores Leonard, Yoga Teacher
