HELLO AND WELCOME!

I’m Rae Lynn. My professional passions for 30 years have been that of an occupational therapist and yoga teacher, blending together the eastern and western wellness worlds.

A Bit of Backstory...
My occupational therapy career began in Florida in 1993, working at a large, in-patient rehabilitation hospital with adults experiencing neurological, cardiac, and orthopedic conditions and then into pediatrics. Always an anatomy and research geek, I also taught evening Kinesiology classes at Palm Beach Community College.

In desperate need of effective tools to balance the stressors of my full-time O.T. career, plus becoming a new mom, I did a deep dive into yoga and meditation, and like any good wife, I effectively nagged my husband, Jeff, onto this new journey with me.

Our experiences of increased mental and physical well-being from practicing yoga, combined with our spirit of adventure, led to a cross-country road trip with our then 3-year-old son to San Francisco for four months of yoga teacher training, followed by a move to York, Maine, and the opening of Yoga On York in 2002.

Yoga On York was the perfect venue to integrate my rehabilitation science knowledge with the holistic modalities of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation, providing classes for all, including private yoga therapy, Prenatal Yoga, Mom & Baby Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Yoga Club (for teens with special needs), gentle yoga, athletic yoga, beach yoga, plus leading 200hr & 500hr yoga teacher trainings.

After a wonderful 13 years running Yoga On York, we passed the torch of studio ownership in 2015, and I returned to clinical OT………… until the pandemic……….

………. in August 2020, with a worldwide pandemic in full swing, we took a massive leap of faith. We literally sold everything, bought a sailboat, learned as we went, and sailed the (often) high seas for seven months! Whew!
Then we sold the boat and world-traveled for a year… all while homeschooling our teenage daughter…..

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.”
~ Helen Keller ~

Back from our travels, I find myself in my mid-fifties, a couple of years post-menopause, and living in a
VERY different body, mind, spirit, and stage-of-life purpose than I did just five years prior.

I am a constantly curious person, and continuing education is my guilty pleasure, so I have recently been taking ohhhhh soooo many more courses on all things related to healthy aging, including courses on: menopause, nutrition, strength training, osteoporosis and bone building, heart and brain health, sleep and on and on…..
everything related to what peri/post-menopausal woman
(and those who love us), could be doing to flourish as we age!

I’ve always lived the motto,
when you get, give, and when you learn, teach” .

Enter Rowing North Wellness, my newest passion focused on healthy aging, the newest blending of
my Eastern wisdom studies and Western rehabilitation degrees.

Join me!
Let’s row (not drift) north together!
